| internal conflict | takes place within a character's mind. It is a decision or struggle between opposing needs/desires/emotions |

| plot | A series of related events that make up a story |
| introduction | also called exposition, tells about the setting and characters |
| rising action | presents the conflict and explains how the character struggles with it |
| climax | the most emotional or suspenseful part of the story. this is when the conflict is at its worst( when the outcome is decided one way or another |
| falling action | tells what happens as a result of the character's solution to the conflict |
| resolution | the loose ends of the story are tied up, this is not always present in a story, or it may be incomplete especially if their is a series/sequal |
