Geometry Chapter 6 Vocabulary.

QuestionAnswer
Ratio A comparison between two numbers.
Proportion Two ratios set equal to each other.
Means Two cross multiples in a proportion, usually the lower number of the first ratio and the second of the last ratio.
Extremes The opposite of the means, the other numbers in a proportion.
Geometric Mean For two positive numbers a and b, the positive number x that satisfies a/x=x/b
Scale Drawing A drawing that is the same shape as the object it represents, but a different size.
Scale The ratio of two similar objects.
Similar Polygons Polygons that are the same snape
Scale Factor The ratio of a side length of the image to the corresponding side length of the original figure.
Similar Polygons Polygons that are the same shape but a different size, and all corresponding sides have the same ratio.
