Nasal Assimilation This rule affects prefixes which end with n.
Voice Assimilation Voice Assimilation occurs any time one sound alters its voice feature to become more like a nearby sound
Total Assimilation Total Assimilation only occurs before the sounds [l] and [r]. We extend this rule to include all cases in which a sound changes to become exactly like a nearby sound.
Vowel Deletion 1. morphemes ending in a vowel 2. morphemes ending in a vowel + r A vowel in the first morpheme is deleted when the following morpheme begins with a vowel.
Rhotacism Look for roots that have allomorphs ending in s and r. The rule changes the allomorph ending in s to the allomorph ending in r. If this rule occurs, you have been given both forms in the Morpheme Sets rus + -al → rural jus + -y → jury mus + -ine → murine genus + -ic → generic
