vocabulary words

fractions

QuestionAnswer
numerator the number at the top of a fraction bar. it names the part of the whole.
denominator the number at the bottom of a fraction bar. it names the total number of parts in the whole.
fraction a way to represent a number less than one but greater than zero. it shows parts.
equivalent fractions fractions that show the same amount but are in different pieces.
simplifying fractions shrinking the numberator and the denominator to have 1 as the only shared factor.
