Matter Anything that occupies space and has mass.
Mass The quantity of matter that a substance possesses
Weight Similar to mass, but can vary.
Density d=m/v
How many states does matter occur in? Three: solid, liquid gas.
Solid Definite size and shape
Liquid Definite volume but takes the shape of the container.
Gas Has neither definite shape nor volume.
Distinct Substance Something that can be subdivided into the smallest particle that still has the properties of that substance.
Physical Changes Composition remains constant, yet the physical properties alter.
Chemical Changes Changes in the composition and structure of a substance.
