TAKS Chemistry Vocab for introduction

QuestionAnswer
Physical Change a change that is made without changing the substance that has been change ex. painting, folding, melting, boiling
Chemical Change a change that causes the substance to change from its original form ex. respiration, digestion, burning
Chemical equation a statement that describes what is happening in chemical reaction usually uses symbols, coefficients and subscripts
Gas A substance that has no definite shape or volule
Aqueous When a substance is dissolved in water. Makes a solution.
Density The mass divided by the volume of a substance.
Hypothesis An educated guess
Coefficient A small whole number that is used to balanced equations and show mole ratios.
Atom The building block of all matter.
Chemical reaction When substances change, rearrange, bonding differently to make new substances.
