| Climax | The most important event in the story; the moment when a conflict is resolved. |
| Comedy | A play with a happy ending - usually funny although it does not have to be. |
| Compare (comparison) | Tell how two things are alike. |
| Conclusion | A decision a reader makes about what is happening in the story based on evidence. |
| Conflict | The problem that characters in a story are trying to solve or resolve. |
| Connect | Explain how ideas in a selection are similar to other texts and to the real world. |
| Context Clues | Words around an unknown word that help you figure out the word's meaning. |
| Contrast | Tell how two things are different. |
| Descriptive writing | Writing that gived lots of detail about a person, place or thing. |
| Dialect | A variety of English spoken by a certain or specific group of people. |
| Dialogue | Words characters say to one another in a piece of writing. |
| Dictionary | A book of words and their definitions. |
| Distort | Twist the facts away rom their true meaning. |
