Number Theory and Fractions

Divisible A whole number is divisible by a second whole number if the first number can be divided by the second number with no remainder.
Even Number is a number that ends in 0,2,4,6,8.
Odd Number is a number that ends in 1,3,5,7,9.
Base when a number is written in expontial form,the number that is used as a factor is the base.
Exponent An exponent tells how many times a number or base is used as a factor.
Power A power can be expressed by using exponents
Composite Numbers is a whole number greater than one with more than two factors.
Factor a whole number that divides another whole number with a remainder of 0.
Factor Tree is a diagram that shows how a composite number breaks down into prime factors.
Prime factorization writing a composite number as the product of prime numbers is the prime factorization of the number.
Prime Number is a whole number with exactly two factors, 1 and the number and itself.
Common Factor A factor that two or more factors share.
Greatest Commom Factor (GCF) is the greatest factor shared by two or more factors
Equivalent fractions are fractions that name the same amount.
Simplest form when the numerator and denominator have no common factors other than 1.
Improper Fraction has a numerator that is greater than or equal to the denominator.
Mixed number is the sum of a whole number and a fraction.
Proper Fraction the numerator is less than the denominator.
Common Multiple a multiple shared by two or more numbers.
Least Common Multiple (LCM) is the smallest number that is a multiple of both numbers.
Multiple is the product of a number and any nonzero whole number.
Least Common Denominator (LCD) is the least common multiple of the denominator.
Repeating Decimals is a decimal that repeats the same digits without end.
