Fractions and Decimals

Numerator The number above the fraction bar in a fraction.
Fraction A symbol, such as 2/3,5/1 or 8/5 used to describe one or more parts of a whole that is divided into equal parts.
Mix number A number that has a whole-number part and a fraction.
denominator The number below the fraction bar in a fraction.
Common factor A number that is a factor of two or more given numbers
improper fraction A fraction whose numerator is larger than the denominator.
simple form A fraction in which the greatest common factor of the numerator and denominator is one.
Greatest Common Factor (GCF) The greatest number that is common to two or more given numbers.
benchmark Common fractions used for estimating such as 1/4,1/3,1/2,2/3/,3/4.
