Chapter 6 Vocabulary

QuestionAnswer
arithmetic sequence A sequence in which each term is found by adding the same number to the previous term.
equivalent ratio Ratios that have the same value.
proportion An equation stating that two ratios or rates are equivalent.
proportional Two quantities are proportional if they have a constant ratio or rate.
rate A ration comparing two quantities with different kinds of units.
rate of change
ratio A comparison of two quantities by division.
ratio table A table with columns filled with pairs of numbers that have the same ratio.
scaling To multiply or divide two related quantities by the same number.
sequence A list of numbers in a specific order, such as 0, 1, 2, 3, or 2, 4, 6, 8.
term Each number in a sequence.
unit rate A rate that has a denominator of 1.
