| Denotation vs. Connotation | denotation- literal definition connotation- all the associations the word has with it |
| alliteration | the repetition of sounds at the beginning of several words |
| onomatopoeia | A word the imitates the sound it represents |
| lyric poem | a highly musical poem that uses emotional expression and doesn't have a plot line |
