domain | the set of all inputs of a function |

range | the set of all outputs of a function |

mapping | pairs one element in the domain with one element in the range |

independent variable | input variable of a function |

dependent variable | the output variable of a function |

linear equation | an equation whose graph is a line |

function | a domain, range, inputs, outputs, pairs of inputs and outputs. |

vertical line test | if any vertical line passes through no more than one point of the graph of a relation |

functional notation | f(x) f of x, function naming |

linear inequality in two variables | an inequality that results from replacing the equals sign with greater than, greater than or equal to, less than, or less than or equal to |

graph of an inequality in two variables | in a coordinate plane, the set of points that represent all solutions of the inequality |

half-plane | in a coordinate plane, the region on either side of a boundary line |

boundary | a line that separates the coordinate plane into half-plane |
