Action Verb A movement that can be seen by others
Being Verbs Tells what the subject is (Kim IS the maid)
Linking Verbs Conects the subject with a noun or adjective in the predicate. Names or describes the subject.

Verb Phrase group of words that act like a single verb
They have shopped for new boots. Have-Main Verb Shopped-Helping Verb
Transitive Verb Sends action to noun or pronoun in the predicate
Intransitive Verb Does not send action to noun or pronoun in the prediacte
Direct object recieves action from intransitive verb
indirect object Tells who or what was effected by the action.
I ran for the exit sign, but it was to late. ran- indirect object
