| Exponent | The number in an exponent that indicates how many times the base is being multiplied. |
| Power | A number produced by raising a base to an exponent. |
| Exponential form | An expression showing repeated multiplication as a base raised to an exponent. |
| Scientific notation | A shorthand way of writing large and small numbers as a number times a power of ten. |
| Principal square root | The non-negative square root of a number. |
| Perfect square | A number that has integers as its square roots. |
| Irrational number | A number that can only be written as a decimal that does not terminate or repeat. |
| Rational number | A number that can be written as a fraction. Can be a terminating or a repeating decimal. |
| Real number2 | The set of all rational and irrational numbers. |
| Pythagorean Theorem | The fact that, in a right triangle, the sum of the squares of the legs is equal to the square of the hypotenuse. |
| Leg | One of the short sides of a right triangle. |
| Hypotenuse | The longest side of a right triangle. |
