| axiom | an axiom is a property that forms the basis of a mathematical system. It is assumed to be true without proof. |
| the distributive axiom | multiplication distributes over addition. (example) 3(2+1)=6+3 |
| Multiplication distributes over subtraction | Multiplication distributes over subtraction (example) 3(2-1)=6-3 |
| distributing | multiplication or division distribute over addition or subtraction of two or more terms from the left or from the right. |
| like terms | 2 numbers in a term that has the same variable or same power |
| numeral coefficent | a numeral coefficent of a term in the constant that is multiplied by the variables. (5x - 2x) |
