What led up to the Battle of Saratoga? Clinton (British) took over 2 forts in his way to take over Saratoga.
Why was the site important to the battle? Saratoga was important to the battle because the British believed if they could take Saratoga they could control all of the colonies.
Who were the leaders of both sides of the battle? General John Burgoyne led the British; General Horatio Gates and Benedict Arnold commanded the Americans.
Who were the allies to each side of the battle? There were no allies in this specific battle; however it sparked the French to become allies of the Americans.
What were the British's strengths? They were the strongest army known to the modern world and they had a lot of money.
What were the British's weaknesses? Their weaknesses were that the war cost a lot of money and parliament was divided about even participating in the war.
What were the Americans' strengths? The American’s strengths were that they had the home field and were motivated to fight for freedom.
What were the Americans' weaknesses? The Americans weaknesses were that they had a hard time raising money for the war and the British had more allies.
What strategy did the British use? Divide and Conquer
What strategy did the Americans use? Offensive
What strategy did the Americans use? Offensive
What types of weapons were there? Both sides had muskets and guns, small callibre.
Whow did the weapons make an impact on the battle? Both sides had lots of ammunition and been well slept before the battle, so it was intense.
