Word/expressionMeaning
A bunch of 集団、〜の集まり、たくさんの A group of, A lot of, There's a bunch of high school girls on the train. I have a bunch of chocolates.
A long story 話せば長い話です、話せば、長くなります。 We usually say this when we want to avoid talking about a subject. A: How did you end up in Tokyo? B: Uh, it's a long story.
Add up つじつまが合わない English meaning: "make sense" Used in a negative sense. 彼の言うことはつじつまが合わない- His story didn't seem to add up. This is often used in the negative: (something) doesn't add up. It suggests that something is not right or the result is not correct.
All over Everywhere -至る所に (その噂、ニュース、情報が あちらこちらに広がっている) Everyone knows she's having a baby. It's all over town.
All right all right の意味 [文末に用いて] 間違いなく, 確かに (すぐ前に述べたことが正しいことを強調する)We use all right at the end of an expression to emphasize something, sometimes negative. "If you don't study for your test, you'll probably get a low score all right."
Apart from 〜は別として、以外、を除いて Except for. "There's nothing in my bag apart from sweets." "Apart from me, there are only girls in this room."
Awfully Very. とっても This past summer was awfully hot and humid. Mika, Hana, and Risako are awfully good English speakers.
Come across 偶然見つける, 遭遇する Encounter, discover something or someone by chance. "I came across some old photos when I was cleaning my room." In BTTF, "bump into" meant to meet a person (you know) by chance.
Come on “Come on”は、乗り気ではない相手を誘うときに、「いいじゃん!」 「大丈夫!」と背中を押すニュアンスでも使われます。
Count for 価値がある To have value. "Your test counts for 40 points." Your efforts count for a lot in this class.
Count on 〜に頼る、を当てにする Rely on (with confidence). Another meaning is "to expect something to happen." 期待する "Japan counts on its best athletes to win gold medals."
Depend on 当てにする、信頼する、頼りにする Count on, trust, need (for a particular purpose). The meaning of "depend on" is similar to "count on" except that with depend on, there's more of a nuance of trust. All of you depend on your parents to support and care for you.
End up この表現は「〜で終わる、終える」の意味で使われる。(ある状態に) 結局になる、結局に至る End up means to find yourself or something in a place/situation that you didn't intend or expect to be in.
