integer The set of whole numbers and their opposites {… -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2 …}
absolute value the distance from x to the origin on the number line; never less than zero because it represents distance
whole number Non-negative integers {0, 1, 2, 3 …}
negative A number less than zero
positive A number greater than zero
zero pair A positive and negative number whose sum is zero
additive inverse the number which when added to another number equals zero
even integer An integer that is a multiple of 2 {…-4, -2, 0, 2, 4, 6…}
odd integer Any integer that, when divided by 2, does not have an integer as the quotient
order of operations the rules followed when evaluating expressions with more than one operation
