Basic Terms of Chemical Equations

Chemical Reaction A process that produces a chemical change, resulting in a new substance being made
Chemical Equation A shorthand way of writing what happens in a chemical reaction
Reactants A substance that exists before a chemical reaction
Products A substance that is produced after a chemical reaction

What does the arrow mean in a chemical equation? "Produces" or makes
What does it mean if a chemical equation is "balanced"? The number of atoms of each element is equal on both sides
