Review of Counting Atoms for Quiz

What is an atom? The smallest unit of an element
What is an element? A substance made up of only ONE kind of atom
What is a compound? A molecule that is formed by combining two or more different elements (CO or HCl)
What is a molecule? Is formed when two or more atoms of one element are chemically combined (O2 or H2 are molecules)
What is a subscript? The small number to the right of any element. It tells how many atoms of the element it has
What is a coefficient? It is the number on the left of the compound or molecule. It tells how many molecules it has.
