Joe Louis vs Primo Carnera fight: Took place on June 25th, 1935 and was considered a political match. Louis would win in the 6th round.
Why was Louis vs Carnera considered a political fight? Carnera was the symbol of Mussolini's regime in Italy - Italy invades Ethiopia later that year. Black man defeated the Italian.
Joe Louis vs Max Baer heavyweight championship fight: The fight took place on September 24th, 1935, the same day Joe Louis would get married to his wife. Louis defeats Baer in the 4th round to become the heavyweight champion.
Max Baer: Max Baer gave Ernie Schaff the blood clot in a previous fight, that led to his death in the ring against Primo Carnera. Max Baer has also killed an opponent in the ring. (Frankie Campbell)
