simple single layer
stratified multiple layers
pseudo stratisfied false multiple layers
epithelial tissue = covering and lining body surfaces and organs; some types form glands. lining of mouth and intestines.
4 main tissue types epithelial, connective, muscle and nervous. memory trick covers, moves, connects, communicates.
squamos flat
cuboidal cubed
columnar tall
transitional stretches (bladder)
glandular makes subs' like sweat
muscle tissues skeletal: moves bones; voluntary. cardiac: heart; involuntary. smooth: organs; involuntary.
connective tissue areolar: packing/cushioning. adipose: stores fat. reticular: supportive mesh. dense regular: parallel fibers (tendons) dense irregular: fibers in many direction. collagen: strength. elastic fibers: stretch and recoil. bone: support. cartilage: cushioning.
connective tissue continued blood: transports materials
nervous tissue neurons: send signals. neuroglia: support and protect neurons.
CNS (central nervous system) glia (brain and spinal cord) astrocytes = support. oligodendrocytes = make CNS myelin. ependymal cells = line spaces and help move cerebrospinal fluid. microglia = immune cleanup.
PNS glia (outside CNS) schwann cells = make PNS myelin. satellite cells = support neuron cell bodies
loose connective branches to adipose, areolar reticular because loose is not super close so its easier for oils/fats to get through
dense regular collagen and elastic because collagen keeps your face nice and tight so its harder for acne and bacteria to form or get through the skin
