| Where is the human heart located? | Thoracic cavity. Medially between the lungs. The space is know as the mediastinum. |
| Within the mediastinum, the heart is separated from other structures by a tough membrane called? | Percardium, pericardial sac. |
| The pericardium sits in the space called the? | Percardial cavity. |
| Slight deviation of the apex to the left is reflected in a depression in the medial surface of the superior lobe of the left lung called the? | Cardiac notch. |
| What is hypertrophic cardiomyopathy? | abnormal enlarged heart muscle. |
| Human heart consists of 4 chambers which are called? | L\R Atrium L\R ventricle |
| Each of the upper L\R atria chambers act as what? (Singular=Atrium) | Act as receiving chambers. Contracts to push blood into the lower chambers, the L\R ventricle. |
| What do the L\R ventricles serve as? | Primary pumping chambers. |
| Where do the ventricles propell blood? | The lungs and to the rest of the body. |
| The pulmonary circuit does what? | Transports blood to and from the lungs. It picks up oxygen and delivers carbon dioxide for exhalation. |
| What does the systematic circuit do? | Transports oxygenated blood to basically all tissues of the body. It returns relatively deoxygenated blood and carbon dioxide to the heart to be sent back to the pulmonary circulation. |
