| DON: I still don't understand it. Why he gave those two those parts is a mystery to me | You know what is going to happen. This whole thing is going to flop and we are all going to end up looking like fools., I'll tell you one thing, if that happens, I am never going to be in another Christmas play as long as I live |
| PASTOR DAVE: ...God has given you a great talent. You can't just throw it away when something goes wrong | I don't believe God gave me this talent just to be humiliated. I'm sorry, pastor, but that's the way I feel about it |
| BECKY: ...How bad can these two guys be>? | Becky, get real. I don't believe you said that. Last year they spent Christmas in the emergency room at the hospital because Royce slammed a door on Fred's face and broke his nose |
| BECKY: so, accidents happen. That's no reason to tell them they can't serve God | With them, accidents don't happen, they create them. Hospital policy says you have to leave the hospital in a wheelchair, so Fred is pushing Royce out the door, and pushes him down a ramp and right into the path of an on-coming ambulance |
| BECKY: well, they are still alive, so I guess Royce must have saved him somehow | The ambulance swerved to miss them and took out three posts holding up the canopy over the ER entrance. The whole thing fell down on them and totaled the ambulance. They spent two weeks in the hospital |
| BECKY:...... That doesn't mean they can't be a big help in the Christmas play | Girl, you should have been born blonde |
| RANDY: Hi everyone! Sorry we are a little late, but we got stuck waiting for a train at the crossing in town. Is everyone ready to get started? | We can't. The stars of out show haven't arrived yet. |
| BECKY: Maybe we need to listen | Jenny, what is your opinion of using Fred and Royce as the leads in our play this year? |
| ROYCE: Hi everybody! Sorry we's late, but we had to stop by the emergency room at the hospital | is one of you hurt? |
| RANDY: Sounds like you have it. Debbie, what about you? | Like always, I am the spoiled teenager who doesn't realize how good she has it or how much her parents love her. Don;t you think I am getting a little old for this part? |
| BECKY: You have got to get your dad to let you go to this part or my parents will never let me go. | I'll try, but you know my dad. If he thinks it might cost him two cents there's no way |
| FRED: Debbie, did I hear you say you are going to try to talk to your dad into letting you do something? | Yeah, fat chance though |
| FRED: We learned the secret to getting through to your dad | Sure. |
| FRED: He hasn't called the cops on us for almost a month | That's true. What is it? |
| ROYCE: It will cost you five bucks. | Why not? I'll play along - Here, but this better work |
| BECKY: It can't hurt to try | I will, but don't hold your breath |
| DON: Hi girls. Debbie, did I see you hand those two bums some money | I was trying to be nice. After all, It is Christmas time. |
| DON:... I don't give you my hard earned money just to give to bums who should be out working | Can you believe that? The first thing out of his mouth after "Hi" is to jump down my throat. One of these days, I am going to tell him what to do with his money. |
| BECKY: Remember, Be nice. | Here, Dad, let me help you with those |
| DON: What's up with you two, you didn't;t just drop by here to help me hand up clothes | Dad, there is going to be this great Christmas party at Clara's house this Saturday night, and I wanted to know if I could go. Please, say yes |
| DON: No | But dad, that's not fair. All the other lads are going, I have to go. Ot's the biggest Christmas party of the year |
| DON: I said, No! It's just another excuse for you to go shopping, and spend more money that I have worked hard to earn | A lot of good does when you earn it you never spend it on anything that matters. I'll be glad when I graduate and get out of here. When you're old and I'm rolling money, don't think about coming around asking for help. Come on becky lets get out of here |
| BEVERLY: well, Randy, what are you going to do? We can't keep going like this, we will never get this play ready in time. | I have homework I have to get to tonight |
| KRISTY: You had to know this was going to happen randy. You should have known better in the first place | I know I'm just a teenager, and I'm supposed to keep quiet, but I take a lot of pride in our plays and I am sorry, but if this is the way this play is going to be... I want out |
| KAREN: Royce overheard us talking about them during a break, and he and Fred decided to quit the play | I think they're going to quit more than the play.cI would say we have fixed it so they may even quit church |
| PASTOR DAVE:... I understand wanting to do your best in a play like this if you believe and live its message | So, how do we fix this? |
| ROYCE: I did fer a fact, Fred, but you be careful with that candle. Ya know what happened the last time you was a playin' with fire | What happened? |
| BECKY: You know, candles always remind me of birthdays. I kinda feel like we are having a birthday party for Jesus right here as we light these | It could be a birthday party for Royce, too. This marks his new birth into the family of God. |
