| Question | Answer |

| Claim | A statement that answers the question . It will usually only be one sentence in length, the claim does not include any explanation, reasoning or evidence so it should not include any transition words like "because" |
| Evidence | The data used to support the claim. It can be either quantitative of qualitative depending on the question and/or lab. Only use data with evidence that supports the claim |
| Reasoning | The reasoning is the explanation of "why and how" the evidence supports the claim |
| Accuracy | being as close to correct as possible |
| Procedure | the steps you follow in a lab experiment |
| Hypothesis | prediction educated guess that uses the format if....then.. |
| constants | things that remain the same in an experiment |
| variable | anything that can change in n experiment |
| Independent variable | the variable that is purposely changed in an experiment |
| Dependent variable | the variable that you are measuring (in response to the Independent variable) |
| Quantitative data | measurements/ numbers |
| Qualitative data | description of characteristics qualities and traits |
