C&Tspine positioning
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| AP Axial c-spine | CR C4 (lower margin of thyroid cartilage) Angle 15-20 degrees cephalic |
| AP Open Mouth c-spine | CR to center of open mouth |
| AP Dens: Fuchs c-spine | CR to the tip of the inferior tip of mandible Angle parallel to the MML Elevate chin so the MML is nearly perpendicular to the IR |
| PA Dens: Judd c-spine | CR midoccipital bone (1" inferioposterior to mastoid tips and angles of mandible Angle parallel to the MML Extend chin so that the MML is nearly perpendicular to the IR |
| Lateral c-spine | CR C4 Depress shoulders and extend chin to prevent superimposition |
| Lateral Swimmers c-spine | CR T1 (1" above jugular notch or at level of C7 spinous process) Raise shoulder and humerus closest to IR above head, depress farthest shoulder |
| Trauma Lateral c-spine | CR C4 do NOT manipulate head |
| Oblique c-spine | CR C4 Angle 15-20 degree cephalic for RPO/LPO or 12-20 degrees caudal for RAO/LAO Rotate body and head to form 45 degree angle to the IR |
| flexion/extension lateral c-spine | CR C4 Depress shoulders out of anatomy Flexion: depress chin to chest without moving body forward Extension: extend chin without moving backward |
| AP Thoracic Spine | CR T7 (3-4in below jugular notch) C7 to L1 demonstrated |
| Lateral Thoracic Spine | CR T7 (3-4in below jugular notch) T1 to L1 demonstrated |
