What is the function of carbidopa? To prevent the breakdown of levadopa
What is the function of both together? Reduces tremors and rigidity
Common side effects constipation, depression, anxiety, confusion, hallucinations, memory loss, orthostatic hypo, blurred vision, darkened excretions, sudden sleep.
Serious side effects Hemolytic anemia, leukopenia, neuropathy, increased intraocular pressure
Behavioral side effects Gambling, sexual urge
Toxicity Facial grimacing, twitching , spasmodic eye, tongue protrusion.
What meals should be avoided? High protein meals can reduce effectiveness, wean gradually to prevent flu like withdrawals.
