Methotrexate

Methotrexate MOA Interferes with the specific S phase cycle of cell replication by blocking the enzyme which converts folic acid to folate.

Adverse effects of Methotrexate N/V, stomatitis, anorexia, rash, HA, BM suppression, hepatotoxic, pulmonary toxic, PCP, PNA, opportunistic infections
Methotrexate with food Absorption of methotrexate is delayed with food.
Echinacea increases risk of Hepatoxicity.

What must be avoided with Methotrexate ? Alcohol, supplements that contain folate.
When should the provider be notified? Diarrhea, mouth sores, SOB, muscle weakness, confusion, seizures.
