| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Particles | Small microscopic things like molecules and atoms |
| element | A pure substance made of only one kind of atom |
| Pure substance | A substance that is made up of atoms. |
| compound | A pure substance made of two or more different kinds of atoms |
| mixture | Anything you combine that is not chemically bonded. |
| states of matter | Determined by molecule movement and temperature. Solid liquid gas or plasma. |
| Phase Change | When the temperature of an object changes going from one phase to another |
| Solution | A mixture that has a dissolved substance |
| Density | How tightly packed molecules are in a object. |
| solubility | How well a solute will dissolve in a solvent. |
| Solvent | The thing doing the dissolving. |
| Solute | The thing getting dissolved. |
| Dissolve | when something breaks in to tiny pieces that you can't see it |
| Concentrated | When a solution has reached its maximum solute. Add more solute take away solvent. |
| Diluted | To make a liquid thinner. Add more Solvent take away solute |
| Saturated | When a substance is full of solute it can no more dissolve. |
| Melting Point | When a solid melts in to a liquid |
| Boiling point | When a liquid turns to a gas |
| Freezing point | When a liquid turns to a solid. |
