Work Readiness Vocabulary

| delegating leadership style | to send or tell another person to complete a task or job |
| deposit | money that you put into your bank (savings or checking) account |
| diversity | differences as observed in race, religions, cultures, opinions and thinking |
| empathize | being able to identify and/ or experience the emotions, thoughts, or attitudes of another |
| enunciation | to pronounce words very clearly so that others might understand what you are saying |
| employee | a person who works for pay |
| employer | a person or business that pays money to someone who is doing a job for them |
| ethical | obeying the rules |
| unethical | disregard for what is right or socially acceptable, such as lying, stealing, cheating, etc |
| exploratory interview | a short, informal talk with someone who works in a career that appeals to you |
| Equal Employment Opportunity Act | to eliminate discrimination in employment based on race, color, age, sex, national origin, religion, or mental or physical disability |
| firewall | network security that monitors and filters incoming and outgoing network traffic |
| fixed expenses | amounts that stay the same no matter how much they are used, such as rent and car payments |
| flexible expenses | amounts that will change depending on the usage; such as water and electricity |
