| surface current | A movement of ocean water that occurs near the surface of the ocean, mainly caused by wind. |
| Density = | Mass ÷ Volume |
| density | How much mass is packed into a certain amount of space (volume) |
| density | grams per cubic centimeter |
| salinity | he amount of dissolved salt in water. |
| deep ocean current | A slow movement of cold, dense water deep below the ocean’s surface, caused mainly by differences in temperature and salinity. |
| upwelling | The movement of cold, nutrient-rich water from the deep ocean up toward the surface. |
| Coriolis Effect | The apparent curving of moving air and water caused by Earth's rotation. |
| respiration | The process cells use to release energy from food. |
