seperating mixtures

TermDefinition
filtration filtration is a method of separating an insoluble solid from a liquid using a material that allows the liquid to pass through but not the solid.
filter paper item used to separate a liquid from a solid allowing the liquid to pass through it but leaving the solid remaining.
filtrate the filtrate is the liquid that has been filtered.
residue residue is the solid that remains behind on the filtrate paper
distillation distillation is the vaporising of a liquid by boiling it and the condensing the vapour by cooling it.
liebig condenser a condenser that converts vapours to liquids in the labrotory
distillate is the purified liquid produced by condensation
