Important Algebra 1 OST Vocab

QuestionAnswer
Even numbers numbers that can be divided by 2 with no remainder (always end in a 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8)
Odd Numbers numbers that cannot be divided by 2 , leaving a remainder of 1 (always end in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9)
Perfect Squares is a number you get when you multiply a number by itself (4, 9, 16, 25, etc)
Prime Numbers a number greater than 1 that can only be divided evenly by 1 and itself. (2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, etc)
Tenths is the first digit to the right of the decimal point
Hundredths place is the second digit to the right of the decimal point
Thousandth place is the third digit to the right of the decimal point
Whole numbers set of numbers that include zero and all positive counting numbers without any fractions, decimals, or negative values. 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, …
Integer a whole number that can be positive, negative, or zero, without any fractional or decimal parts. … - 3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, …
Rational number any number that can be written as a fraction
Irrational number a number that cannot be written as a fraction, the decimal doesn’t repeat or stop.
*Equivalent equations equations that have the exact same solution, even though they look different.
*No solution *No solution - an equation that no value of ‘x’ will make the equation true
*Infinite Solution an equation that any value of ‘x’ will make the equation true
