| Apprehensive | Anxious or fearful that something bad will happen |
| Bastion | A fortified area or position; a stronghold |
| Decadence | Having the quality of appearing to self indulgence, marked by decay |
| Absolve | To set free from an obligation or the consequences of guilt |
| Approbation | An act of approving/praising |
| Blasphemy | Irreverence towards something considered sacred or inviolable |
| Deference | Respectful submission or yielding to the judgement or opinion of another. |
| Digression | A temporary departure from the main subject in speech or writing |
| Equivocate | To use confusing language to conceal the truth |
| Diffident | Modest or shy due to lack of confidence |
| Ephemeral | Lasting for a very short time |
| Hackneyed | Overused and unoriginal |
| Nebulous | Vague, hazy, or ill defined |
| Heresy | Belief or opinion contrary to orthodox religious doctrine |
| obscure | Not discovered or known about; uncertain |
| rescind | Revoke, cancel, or repeal |
| squander | Waste (something, especially money or time) in a reckless and foolish manner |
| Repudiate | Refuse to accept or be associated with |
| Soporific | Tending to cause sleepiness |
| zeal | A strong feeling of interest or enthusiasm that makes someone very eager or determined to do something |
