geosphere The mostly solid rocky part of earth extends from the center of the core to the surface of the crust.
hydrosphere The portion of earth that is water.
cryosphere one of the earths spheres where water is in solid form including snow cover floating ice glaciers ice caps ice sheets and frozen ground permafrost.
atmosphere A mixture of gases that surronds a planet moon or celestial body.
biosphere The part of earth where life exists includes all of the living organisims on earth.
energy budget The net flow of energy into and out of a system.
air pressure The measure of the force with wich air molecules push on a suface.
thermosphere The uppermost layer of the atmospere in witch tempeter increaces as altitude increases.
mesosphere The strong lowerpart of the mantle between the asthenospere and outer core. The layer of the atmossphre between the stratosepsere and the theremosspere and in witch temeter decreses as altitude increases.
stratosphere The layer of the atmosperethat lies between the treospere and the meospere and in witch temperture increase as the altitude increase catains the ozone layer.
troposphere The lowest layer of the atospere in witch tembechur drops at a consistant rate as alitiude increases the part of the atmospere where whearther conditions exists.
ozone layer The layer of the atmosphere at an alitude of 15 to 40km in witch ozone absords ultravilot solor readiation.
greenhouse effect The warming of the suface and lower atmosphere of earth that occurs when water vapor carbon dioxid and other gase abords and readiate energy.
temperature A measure of how hot or cold somthing is specifaclly a measure of the avrage kinetic energy of the particals in an object.
thermal energy The tota;l kentic energy of an subsatance atomes.
thermal expansion An increase in size of a substanec in respones to an increas in the teapeter of the substance.
heat The energy transferred between objects that areat diffrrent tempeters.
radiation The trensfer of energy as electromaginic waves.
convection The movment of matter due to differences in density the transper of energy due to the movment of matter.
wind The movment or air caused by diffenses un air presusre.
Coriolis effect The curving of the path of a moving object from an otherwise straight path due to earths roation.
global wind The movment of air over earhts suface in patterns that are worldwide.
jet stream A narrow band of strong windsthat blow in the upper troosphere.
local wind The movment of air over short distanced occures in specific ares as a result of certain geographicail featers.
ocean current The movment of ocean water that follows a regular pattern.
surface current A horazontail movment of ocean water that is caused by wind and that occures at or near the ocean suface.
deep current A streamlike movment of ocean water far below the suface.
convection current Any movment of matter that results from diffrenses in desenty may be vertical circular or cyclical.
upwelling The movment of deep cold and nutrent rich water to the suface.
