| Term | Definition |

| Close button | the X on the top right corner click to close word don’t click by accident |
| Focus | mode a button that hides extra tool bars so you can focus on writing without distractions |
| Insertion point | the blinking line where your text appears when you type also called the cursor |
| Ribbon | big tool bar with buttons like home its where you find you tools |
| Quick access tool bar | a tiny tool bar in the corner with short cuts like save and undo |
| Ribon display options | a button that lets you show or hide the ribbon to make mor room on your screen |
| Ribbon tabs | the names at the top of the ribbon like home insert design clicking one shows different tools |
| Ruler | shows measurements so you can line things up |
| Status bar | the bar at the bottom that shows info like page numbers word count and spelling errors |
| Title bar | the area at the very top of the word window that shows the name of the document it also contains buttons such as minimize maximize and close |
| Vertical scroll bar | the bar on the right that lets you move you and down in your document |
| View buttons | The button that changes how your document looks on the screen |
| Zoom slider | a slider at the bottom right that lets you zoomin or out to make your screen bigger or smaller |
