| Author's Choice | A decision an author makes about what happens in a story and how it is presented. |
| Predicate | The part of the sentence that tells what the subject does or is. |
| Subject verb agreement | The subject and verb must match in number. |
| Sentence | A group of work that expresses a complete thought. |
| Character motivation | Motivation is the reason a character does something. |
| Verb | A word that shows an action or a state of being. |
| Character | A character is a person, animal, or other being who takes part in a story. |
| Conflict | A struggle or problem that characters faces. |
| Plot | The sequence of events that develops the story. |
| Internal conflict | Character versus self |
| Character trait | A character trait describes what a character is like the inside. |
