Parts of speech definitions

QuestionAnswer
Noun a person, place, thing or idea
Preposition begins a prepositional phrase
Verb (predicate) action verb
Linking verbs links subject to an adjective or an adverb
Helping verbs must have an action verb with it
Pronoun takes the place of a noun
Adjective describes a noun
Article anything that says a noun is coming up (a, an, the)
