| Monomer | Organic molecu,es from the food we eat. |
| Polymer | |
| Carbohydrate | A class of marcomolecules composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen atoms, in a 1:2:1 ratio. |
| Monosaccharide | Simple sugars, glucose |
| Disaccharide | Surcose and lactose , consist of two monosaccharides units jooined together. |
| Lipid | molecules such as fats, oils, and waxes, and are the main structural componet of the cell membranes of all oragnisms. |
| Phospholipid | make up the protective outer membrane of all cells (Figure above). |
| Protein | A polymer made of monomers called amino acids. Also composed of five elements carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and sometimes sulfur. |
| Amino Acid | Composed of an amino group, a carboxyl group, and a side chain group that varies among different types of amino acids. |
| Enzyme | Biological catalysts that speed chemical reactions by breaking down molecules, and synthsizing new ones. |
| Nucleic Acid | Composed of five basoc elements, carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and phosphorus. And are polymers composed of monomers called nuleotides. |
| Nucleotide | A three-part unit that consists of a 5-carbon sugar, a phosphate group, and a nitrogenous base. |
