| Term | Definition |

| integers (Z) | positive and negative whole numbers Ex: -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3 |
| irrational numbers (I) | any number that is not rational (a number with no ratio, or fraction, that is exactly equal to its decimal value |
| natural numbers (N) | the set of numbers that begins with one or another whole number then adding one each time Ex: 1, 2, 3 |
| rational number (Q) | a value that can be written as a ratio (or fraction) of integers, a/b, where b is not equal to 0 |
| real numbers (R) | the set of numbers that include all rational and irrational numbers that can be graphed on a number line |
| whole numbers (W) | the set of numbers that begins with zero or Ex: 0, 1, 2, ... |
