Data Analysis Vocab

Mean, Median, Mode, Range

QuestionAnswer
Bar Graph Uses bars to show quantities or numbers so they can be easily compared
Circle Graph Compares parts to a whole
Data Information gathered
Frequency The number of times a particular item appears in a set of data
Frequency Table A tally is often used to keep track of scores
Horizontal Axis A line that goes from left to right usually referred to as the x-axis
Interval The distance between two points
Line Graph A graph that represents how data changes over time.
Line Plot Shows the frequency of data on a number line represented by x's
Mean The average
Median The middle piece of data
Mode The most occurring piece of data
Measures of Central Tendency The mean, median, mode, and range
Outlier A value far away from most of the rest of the data
Stem and leaf plot An arrangement of numbers that separates the digits into columns
Vertical Axis A line that goes up and down, referred to as the y-axis
