Generalized anxiety Disorder is excessive worry for more than 6 months
Anxiety medications are Benzodiazepines=Xanax, Valium- Risks for dependence SSRIs=Prozac, Paxil-First-line Long-term Buspirone=Buspar No abuse potential
Benzodiazepine safety is Fall precaution Avoid alcohol Sedation Risk
Nursing interventions during panic are Stay with patient Reduce stimuli Use calm voice Give simple directions
