| ASHP | -American Society of Health-System Pharmacists -Pharm association founded in 1942 |
| ASHP Model Curriculum for Pharmacy Technician Education and Training | -Program that tells you how to meet the ASHP goals for pharm techs training curricula |
| BOP | -Board of Pharmacy -State agency that licenses pharmacists -May license or register pharm techs |
| CPhT | -Certified Pharmacy Technician -A tech who has passed the national cert exam |
| Closed-Door Pharmacy | -Meds are called in from institutions, then delivered -Not open to the public |
| Communication | -Ability to express oneself in a way that can be understood |
| Community Pharmacy | -Outpatient/retail pharmacies |
| Competency | -Capability or proficiency to perform a function |
| Confidentiality | -Not disclosing protected patient info without their consent |

| Hyperalimentation | -Parenteral (IV) nutrition for patients that can't eat solid or liquids -aka TPN |
| Inpatient Pharmacy | -Pharmacy in a hospital or institutional setting |
| Licensed Pharmacy Tech | -Ensures that the pharm tech has the min level of competency req by the profession, unlike registered |
| NABP | -National Associations of Boards of Pharmacy -National org for members of state boards of pharm |
| NHA | -National Health Career Association -Cert org for multiple health careers, including Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ICPT) |
| NPTA | -National Pharmacy Technician Association -Founded in 1999 |
| Nondiscretionary Duties | -Tasks that don't need professional judgement |
| Outpatient Pharmacy | -Pharmacy that serves patients in community or ambulatory settings |
| Parenteral Meds | -Meds administered via injection -IV, IM, and subcut |
| PTAC | -Pharmacy Technician Accreditation Commission -Partnership between ASHP and ACPE for review and acredditation pf pharm tech edu and training porograms |
| PTCB | -Pharmacy Technician Certification Board -National board for the certification of pharm techs |
| Professionalism | Conforming to the right principles of conduct as accepted by others in the profession |
| Registered Pharmacy Tech | -Does not guarantee the level of the pharm tech's knowledge or skills -May require background check |
| SEPhT | -Society for the Education of Pharmacy Technicians -National org that offers tools and info used in training and edu for students and current techs |
| TPN | -Total Parenteral Nutrition -Large volume IV nutrition given through cental (subclavian) vein, which allows higher concentraion of solutions |
