TermDefinition
Genetics Study of how traits are passed from parent to offspring.
Heredity Passing of traits from parents through offspring.
Inherited Trait you get from your parents through your genes.
Trait Specific characteristic or feature of an organism.
Gene Section of DNA that helps determine a trait (hair color).
Allele Type of gene (brown hair).
Dominant Allele that is shown; capital letter.
Recessive Allele that is hidden; lowercase letter.
Genotype Genetics (BB,Bb).
Phenotype Physical (Blue eyes).
Punnett Square Diagram used to predict genotypes of offspring.
Probability Likelihood or chance of something happening.
Purebred Two identical alleles (BB,bb).
Hybrid Two different alleles (Bb).
Ratio Tells how many of one thing in comparison to another.
Mutated DNA that has undergone a change.
Gregor Mendall Father of Genetics.
Homozygous 2 identical alleles (BB,bb) Purebred.
Heterozygous 2 different alleles (Bb) Hybrid.
Pedigree Diagram shows how a trait is passed, through several generations of a family.
