How does a Conventional Leech Field function? A series of perforated pipes allow the effluent (broken down shit) to move through the pipes & seep into the surrounding soil Soil filters out suspended solids & organic matter Once liquid are in the leech field, they evaporate/ sink into ground
Name 3 advantages that a Infiltrator System has over a Conventional Leech Field 1) Ease of installation 2) Shorter lengths of processing due to increased volume 3) Cost
How can we as home inspectors tell if a leech field is NOT working properly? Walk around the leech field 1) Septic odor 2) Squishy Soil beneath feet
