Proposition means is the core claim of central idea of passage, guiding the overall agruement and structure.
Understanding proposition means taking stance
A thesis statement means explicitly states the main point of the essay, usually found in the introducy paragraph
effective topic sentence must introduced the paragraph main idea while maintaining the logical flow from preceding paragraph
The role of Thesis is the main point of the essay to the reader
A strong thesis is specific, it avoids vague things, arguable and it's clear.
A topic sentence does declares the main idea of a specific paragraph while simultaneously connecting back the thesis statement
effective topic sentence does introduce new information or a new sub-agruement that pushes the essay overall proposition forward, and linking new ideas to that topic.
What is the board trap? if a statement could apply to an entire book rather a short essay it is likely too broad.
What is the narrow trap? "In 1912 the titanic sank."
Irreverent fact trap yes, it is true but its disconnected from the agruement.
igorning the context? you need sentences to back up your topic sentence.
always ask your self what? What is the main claim here and how does this specific sentence help prove it.
Validation- they offer proof that the claims made are valid and grounded.
types of evidence statics, quotes, historical, factual, person stories.
textual relevance just because its true or interesting does not mean it belongs it must earn it place.
the add or delete questions does this detail support the claim? Does it distract the reader? Does it contradict the main agruement? Does it disrupt the logical flaw.
support details must directly reinforce the paragraph topic sentence and essay overall thesis
textual relevance defition that every piece of evidence must severe a specific rhetorical purpose in advancing the agruement
supporting details are the building blocks of a paragraph, without details it is weak.
clarification; they explain complez ideas introduced in topic sentence.
illustration they provide concrete examples to make abstract concepts.
