Cell Membrane Controls what goes in and out of the cell.
Cytoplasm Jelly-like liquid where chemical reactions happen.
Nucleus Controls the cell activities
Mitochondria Releases energy from food.
Ribosome Makes proteins.
Vacuole Stores water, food and waste.
Cell Wall Gives a plant cell support and protection.
Chloroplast Uses sunlight to make food.
Chlorophyll Pigment in chloroplast that absorbs light energy
Cell The smallest unit of a living thing.
Tissue A group of similar cells working together.
Organ Different tissues working together, e.g. the heart.
Organ System A group of organs working together.
Organism A complete living thing.
Microscope An instrument used to make very small things look bigger.
Eyepiece The part you look through.
Objective lens A lens that makes the object look bigger.
Stage The flat part where you put the slide.
Slide A small piece of glass that holds the specimen.
Specimen The object or material being looked at.
Stage clips Hold the slide in place.
Light Shines through the specimen so you can see it.
Focus knob Makes the image clear and sharp.
Magnification How many times bigger the object looks.
