sí / si — which one means “yes” and which one means “if”? sí = yes (meaning) ** with ACCENT** si = if (connector) Sí quiero ir. -- I do want to go. Si vienes, vamos. -- If you come, we’ll go. Different function. Stress: sí
tú / tu — which one means “you” and which one means “your”? tú = you (meaning) ** with ACCENT** tu = your (connector) Tú hablas bien. -- You speak well. Tu casa es grande. -- Your house is big.
él / el — which one means “he” and which one means “the”? él = he (meaning) ** with ACCENT** el = the (connector) Él es mi amigo. -- He is my friend. El perro corre. -- The dog runs.
más / mas — which one means “more” and which one means “but”? más = more (meaning) ** with ACCENT** mas = but (connector) Quiero más agua. -- I want more water. Mas no entiendo. -- But I don’t understand. (Old‑style “mas” = “but,” rarely used today.)
sólo / solo — which one means “only” and which one means “alone”? sólo = only (meaning) ** with ACCENT** solo = alone (connector) Sólo quiero café. -- I only want coffee. Estoy solo hoy. -- I am alone today.
aún / aun — which one means “still” and which one means “even”? aún = still (meaning) ** with ACCENT** aun = even (connector) Aún no llega. -- He/She/It still hasn’t arrived. Aun así, fui. -- Even so, I went.
éste / este — which one means “this one” and which one means “this”? éste = this one (meaning) ** with ACCENT** este = this (connector) Éste es mío. -- This one is mine Este libro es bueno. -- This book is good.
ése / ese — which one means “that one” and which one means “that”? ése = that one (meaning) ** with ACCENT** ese = that (connector) Ése es tuyo. -- That one is yours Ese coche es nuevo. -- That car is new.
