Hesitated Paused before saying or doing something, usually due to uncertainty or worry.
Scurried Moved hurriedly with short, quick steps.
Protested Expressed strong disapproval or objection to something.
Objected Expressed a feeling of disapproval or opposition.
Sorghum A major cereal grain used for food, animal feed, and ethanol production
Flicking Moving something with a sudden, quick movement (or tapping a touchscreen lightly).
Grazing Eating grass in a field (used for livestock), or scraping/scratching the skin lightly.
Aimless Without purpose, direction, or a clear goal.
Halted Brought to a sudden stop
Droned Spoke in a dull, monotonous, and continuous tone
Flinched Made a quick, nervous movement as an instinctive reaction to fear, pain, or surprise.
Uncertainty The state of being unsure or not knowing something for a fact
Artillery Large-caliber big guns or powerful weapons used in warfare on land
Rose Moved from a lower position to a higher one (the past tense of "rise")
Horizon The line at which the earth's surface and the sky appear to meet.
Herding The act of bringing individual animals together into a group or keeping them moving together.
Bush A low, woody plant with many branches; a shrub.
Rebels People who rise up against or fight an established government, ruler, or authority.
Ritual A religious or solemn ceremony consisting of a series of actions performed according to a prescribed order.
Backfiring Having the opposite result of what was intended (or a mistimed explosion in the cylinder of an engine).
Scattered Thrown around loosely, separated, or spread far apart in various directions.
Scrambled Moved quickly using both hands and feet, or tossed together in a confused, messy way.
Wandered Walked or moved away from a fixed path without a definite destination or purpose.
Littered Left trash or objects scattered around untidily in an area.
