Body Main Section of the speech
Chronological order method of speech organization in which main points follow a time pattern
Topical Order method of organization in which the main points divide the topic into logical and subtopics.
Main points major points developed in the body of a speech
Transition a word or phrase that indicates when a speaker has finished one thought and is moving onto another
Conclusion final section of a speech
What should your conclusion include? - A twist - end on a dramatic, clever, or thought provking note
How to deliever a speech? speak extemporaneously - carefully prepared and rehearsed that is presented from a brief set of notes - Rehearse speech ( stand apart from the wall and practice)
Choosing a topic - a topic you know a lot about - topics you want to learn more about -Brainstorm
General purpose Broad goal of a speech
to inform conveying information clearly, accurately, and interestingly ( Acting as a teacher or lecturer )
to persuade going beyond giving information to espousing a cause, (acting as an advocate or a partisan )
Determining the specific purpose - write a purpose statement as a full infinitive phrase, not as a fragment - Express your purpose as a statement, not as a question
Topical - organizing a speech by its categories or topics
comparison/ contrast organizing main points lends itself easily to two main points, we can also create a third point by giving basic information about what is being compared and what is being contrasted.
